For your consideration is this very nice double sided art nouveau silver over gold vesta match safe with a ballerina dancer on one side and a fairy lady on the other side. The silver plate does have light wear through to the gold color underneath at some of the high points like the fairy's hairline and down her arm creating beautiful highlights. And of course on her wings. The fairy is semi nude with only a flowing robe around her waist as she leans over a pool of water with trees in the back ground and iris flowers blooming near by. The ballerina dancer is holding a champane goblet and taking a bow. There is consistant wear with age especially since we believe it was made in 1902. These vestas were made from 1900 -1910 with the mythology ones being done mostly in 1902. We think the vesta was made by Gorham ? but arent positive since it isnt marked. The gold underneath is most likely a brass or copper. And therefore, is being sold as such. It is in good working order and would be a fine addition to any tobacciana collection, mythological or magical, or ballerina collection.
